Pre-Layne

It's about 3 a.m and I'm on my graveyard shift with Monkey and trying to just stay awake as long as possible since I know that as soon as I fall asleep I will have to wake up and sometimes even if I do get an hour of sleep when I awake it feels like I just closed my eyes and then the feeding, burping, changing ritual seems more painful. Layne is doing great and is 1 MONTH today. I am a little concerned that our next visit to the pediatrician will yield a warning in to the signs of early childhood obesity concerns as Layne is gaining weight rapidly but i think he's perfect still. I was watching a special called "Bringing home Baby" and at 3 months the baby weighed 12 lbs. hmm well I stepped on our scale the other day and without Layne I was 136 and with him the scale read 147 lbs. O well everyone loves a chunky baby right? We haven't done much lately to really write about. Sometimes I take him on a walk around our neighborhood in this sling thing but he gets hot easy and (sorry MI people) but it's been in the 70's lately so I don't wanna exhaust him. It's still the oddest thing that i have a baby everyday i go through the motions of taking care of him and then I look at him and think whoa i'm taking care of you and you are part of me and we're gonna be together forever. It's such an odd commitment i guess because in life you can pretty much get out of any commitment I mean you can foreclose on a mortgage, default on any form or loan for that fact, even the holiest of binds isn't safe from those who have a fear of commitment and that's why we have divorce. It's strange cause it's soooo hard and sometimes you do click out a lil i mean the boy has a cry that makes you think he just lost an appendage but I dunno I'd hate to be cliche and say it's sooo worth it but I guess there is no other way to describe it. I guess you see how worth it it really is when the screaming stops and he grabs your finger with this tiny hand or you see him learning his body and he wiggles around and it makes you laugh so hard and the faces they make are priceless cuz it's kinda like they don't have control over their face yet.

So anyway enough of that for the people in MI here are some Pre-Layne pics such as the nursery it's amazing how far things have come...u'll see.

Today's pics post outing and post pee'ing on his original outfit .... : (

Still cute...

Layne's first outting

Today we went to Crazy Sushi and sat outside with my sister and brother n law. It was a beautiful day for a while but then got chili out. It was nice to go to this restaurant since it was close to where we live and we can take him on a walk in his stroller. I am learning that new parents will use any excuse to get out of the house such as taking out trash or a short trip to Publix which was Layne's first stroller ride last night. Luckily we live in close proxomity to these places so that we can take Layne with us however, we do live on the 3rd floor which makes getting the stroller downstairs or heck even his car seat quite difficult especially since Layne is close to 10 lbs if not 10 lbs already.

Before i forget here's Baby's first bath with mom and dad:

Ok so yesterday was a disaster and Layne would eat, fall asleep and wake up like 10 minutes later. I thought i was goin to die...luckily daddy came home and saved the day by watching Layne until 2:30 in the morning and letting me sleep for 4 hours which is a new record for sleep in my book. Dad even made it to work today after the all nighter.  My mom has also been a great big help and she's overly concerned bout how Layne has been and thinks that breastfeeding is not the way to go since the baby is so restless and that is usually a sign of hunger so today she came over today and we gave him 3 oz bottles and he's back to his earlier routine of eating, having his diaper changed and sleeping it's a MIRACLE. Ya know i admire the women that can nurse but i really think some people are not cut out for it and honestly we are such typical new parents and the easier we can make it on ourselves i feel the better. So this is more for pics and here are some more recent one's of Layne:

Hello Everyone I figured that making a blog for Layne would be a great way to keep everyone up to date with his progress and pictures and this would be easy to access for everyone. As you all know Layne was born January 28, 2011 and it was bananas. He came out a lot bigger than expected weighing in at 7 lbs and 13 oz.

Layne had phototherapy for the first week home due to his billirubin level escalating from 11 when we left the hospital to 22.3 when we returned 2 days later for a check up. Photo therapy was horrible...they set up what looked like a copy machine or picture scanner in his crib and he had to stay on it all day and night except for 20 min which he was allowed off to nurse....otherwise diaper changes, bottle feedings, even burping had to be done on the bed...

Layne in the light bed... : (

So Layne got better and we finally took him off the bed...the only thing good that came outta this whole thing was that we met this lady Harriett and she was like the baby whisperer. She knew like everything bout babies and shared alot of info and gave us a lot of tips but I'm glad we are done with that.

Layne is now 2 weeks and 5 days old and so far he has been a saint...waking up about every 2 hours to eat, have a diaper change and then go back to sleep but now someone has discovered his lungs and likes to show us how loud he can get it's crazy but he's super cute and we adore him.

Daddy is doing really well with the baby he loves to hold him and I nag on him b/c i don't want Layne to get used to being picked up but it's adorbale how much he loves him and he just wants to hold him all the time so I am lucky in that aspect that he is such a doting father.

I am off work for 3 months so i stay home with Layne but have company over at random and due to the fact that I am the one that stays home from work I also wake up with Layne through out the night which has taken alot of gettin used to. It was so easy to stay up to all hours of the night before Layne when Matt and I would go out it's amazing how hard it is when you're not partying but taking care of a baby...it's funny that you just do it.
