Sooo much 2 tell

So Layne's been in the pool, at the beach and now on a plane and he's only 5 and 1/2 months old. It was great to see the family and MI and show Layne where his daddy's roots sprouted from and to let everyone see first hand how wonderful, sweet and adorable our baby is. Layne was amazing n the plane, he slept most of the way on the way to MI and didn't cry and slept all the way home on the plane.

Tonight we actually gave him some thickened rice cereal and that was ok he's not excited bout sittin in his lil chair thing. He's getting more excited bout everything. He's making noise now and it's screaming but in a good way, like Lah Lah Lah Lah ...we LOVE it! He also LOVES to walk around if someone will just hold him up by his hands and he is also growing out of his swing because the other day he almost rolled out of it. He is also smiling and giggling alot which has to be the best thing I have ever seen in my life and Matt and I can not get enough of it. I know i haven't written in sooo long and I'm sorry but things are getting very busy. Ok so let's see some pics and I will write more later...

Being a Mom

Being a mom has been so crazy. I never thought I could do this and if you told me all of the controversy I'd face and all the things that I would learn as I go I would tell you that it's impossible and I could never do this. I was scared from the beginning because of the afermentioned but I still had no idea to what extent it would be taken. I just wanna say to everyone that may see this that it's possible! No matter what challenges you face with your baby, no matter if you think you'll never make it past a month  it's unreal but you do it. You triumph over all of it and just when you think things are great and you've gotten past all of the turmoil it happens again. Layne flipped out today and reminded me of the first couple of months we had the lil dude but it just made me realize how amazing being a parent is and I had to put this out there. Of course I have Matt and he is a GREAT dad. He does not leave my side when that lil boy clicks out. Matt tries everything to calm him down right with me and I am comforted in the hurt I hear in his voice when Layne continues to cry because he loves that boy so much he is distraught when Layne is upset, at first I thought it was irritation but it's honestly such a STRONG and ADMIRABLE Love. Matt stays with me and we suffer together and I am VERY lucky but it's amazing what we can endure and I'm really proud of us.

 Hello everyone!

Layne is doing great! Happy 4 months Layne!! He has sooo much personality now and is on this great routine which I hope I don't jinx by writing about it. This weekend Matt's friend, Jim was in town and so Layne and I spent most of the weekend together. He was great and we went to see his aunt's dance recital and he was so well behaved then when we went out to lunch he was so quiet and just looking around. Layne is really starting to notice the world now and is very observant. He LOVES his hands and is always playin with them and Grandma you'll be happy to know that he is sucking his thumb alot...lol. He actually woke up this morning going to town on his thumb it was SOOO cute. Everything this lil man does is so cute and I am in LOVE. Layne is learning how to communicate verbally too and is making cooing and high pitched noises. He smiles alot too and it's heartbreaking...if i repeat any updates sorry but i don't have time to go back and read the previous post. He really loves his swing, starting to really enjoy this activity mat thing and is able to get on his side so he should be rolling over very soon. We also recently had a visit from Uncle Damien, Allison and Alex. Alex got to hold his cousin and Damien was a natural and Monkey seemed so comfortable with him. Ok Michigan this is what you all have been waiting for....We are definitely coming to visit June 25th until July 3rd so get ready! YAY!

Happy Mother's Day

I know it's not mother's day or even close now but I am starting to feel the pull of work and family. It is not burdensome but consuming and I love every minute of it! Monkey has been doing really good and I am now starting to understand how procreation can actually happen a second time. Not anytime in the near future. On Mother's Day weekend I cleaned and then received a really beautiful, immensely extravagant bouquet from my two boys and a camera so that I can provide only the best quality pics on the blog as my previous camera is currently experience techinical difficulty...prob from a TON of use! I also recieved a beautiful frame and even more beautiful pic of my baby and 2 very sweet cards. My sister surprised me with a very sentimental gift. Kori passed down my grandmother's ring which was given to my grandma on her anniversary and it's just breathtaking and I am truly touched by such an emotional gift.  We ended up having dinner at Teds on Mothers day and it was nice to be there with the family and share my 1st mother's day with them. O and with Mother's Day came the Kentucky Derby and guess who picked the winning horse...ME and who did i pick well they didn't have a horse named Monkey but the 2nd best choice was of course the winner, Animal Kingdom.  Anywho, i know you are just dying for pics so here they are:



3 Months OLD!!

Layne has been doing really good since we switched his formula and better everyday! Last night he slept from 11 pm until 8 am. He is so adorable and making lots of noise and starting to attempt to roll over. Milk Allergy

So we finally found out what was wrong with Layne. He was really fussy and had this horrible rash around his neck and so we have found that it was due to a milk allergy. Layne's body is unable to break down milk protein or even soy protein and so the protein that is not broken down is seen as an antigen to his body and his immune system attacks it and since the immune system is in his tummy his tummy gets inflammed from attacking the protein. The doctor found microscopic blood in his stool which is what determined this. We are relieved and at the same time very upset that we have been giving our son something that he is allergic to. However, moving forward Layne's neck has cleared up and he is getting better. He also has mild acid reflux but I think that is getting better too. He is taking a liquid Zantac twice a day. We have also found that our baby is a cry baby and he is spoiled by attention. We have not found the cure for this ailment yet....lol.

Grandma and Bob are visiting us this week and we have really enjoyed their stay. Last night I made a Shrimp and Artichoke bake for dinner courtesy of Paula Dean..mmmm butter. I also made a Strawberry Pie but it was more of a soup since Paula doesn't specify how long you chill the inside before putting topping on and freezing all together...boo!

In other news Mom is getting her hair done tomorrow and I am sooo excited to spend some time to myself. This whole thing has been really stressful with us being new parents and the recent diagnosis. I mean from labor to present day it's really been one trial and tribulation after another but we do LOVE Layne soo much and i just can't wait until things are more stable and he's just a giggly, crawling baby.
